Volunteers will be packing Lovepacs for the Easter weekend. Food and materials will be provided (using the boxes we decorated back in February). The event is indoors and all ages are welcome. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. The warehouse is climate-controlled, but you will be on your feet on cement floors. Help one of Giving Grace’s clients to move from a transitional shelter to their forever home. We will meet at Giving Grace’s warehouse to help load furniture and fixtures onto a U-haul and then drive to the apartment and help to unload and set up the apartment so that when she arrives home with her children that afternoon, their home is ready to welcome them. All supplies are included so nothing to bring except muscles and some love for this sweet family getting out on their own. In addition to moving boxes, tasks might include furniture assembly, hanging pictures, making beds, and finishing touches to add to their new home. Come and volunteer at an Adaptive cycling event and bring your bike to ride alongside one of their clients who will be participating. You will help in getting the equipment set up prior to the ride and then help to take adaptive equipment down afterward. All volunteers will be required to sign a waiver. We will be providing a gardening day and beautification of the flower beds at MHMR’s main building replacing old mulch and flowers alongside some of their team. MHMR will provide all supplies but recommends each volunteer bring their gardening gloves and any gardening tools you might have available. Rotary Peace Centers & Fellowships
Jim C Quick is a member of the Rotary Club of Arlington, Texas. Jim is the District 5790 Rotary World Peace Fellowships Chair. Dr. Quick is Distinguished University Professor Emeritus at the University of Texas at Arlington. Jim was honored with a 2016 Regents Outstanding Teaching Award within the University of Texas System while in the Goolsby-Fouse Endowed Chair at UT Arlington. A key to his innovative approach includes The Four-Way Test, featured in his textbook ORGB: Organizational Behavior (Cengage Learning) coauthored with Debra Nelson, now in the 17th Edition. In addition, The Four-Way Test is featured in his 2013 Award Winning article “Integrity First: Ethics for Leaders and Followers” in Organizational Dynamics, coauthored with John Goolsby, former CEO of the Howard Hughes Company. Colonel Quick, USAF (Ret.), was commissioned at Colgate University, where he was later awarded The Maroon Citation. His senior decorations are the Legion of Merit and Meritorious Service Medal. Jim and his wife, the former Sheri Grimes Schember, both actively support TRF through the Arch Klumph Society and the Paul Harris Society. The Quicks have an endowment at TRF to support the Rotary Peace Centers and Fellowships.
